The VIRWC tries to keep up with requests for input for state and federal governments into their policy and program development. These publications contribute to public knowledge about migrant and refugee women's issues and can generate campaigns and advocacy that can improve the lives of these women.

There is still substantial research that can be done. Two very current and urgent areas that need to be addressed are:

(1) family violence experiences of women without permanent residency

(2) bullying and harassment of migrant and refugee women in the government sector

The VIRWC is looking to undertake these projects so as to give migrant and refugee women a voice in Australian society.
