Chairperson of the Equal Opportunity Commission Victoria http://www.eoc.vic.gov.au since December 2003, Fiona Smith has brought more than 20 years legal and governance experience across Federal and State tribunals, government agencies and the not-for-profit sector to the role.

With extensive experience in social justice and disability issues, she has been an accredited mediator since 1997.

Also she has been involved in advocating for social justice and human rights issues in paid and voluntary roles, previously working with organisations such as Australian Council of Social Services and the Brotherhood of St Laurence where she managed an equal opportunity unit in the 1980's. The major focus of the unit was women in the social and community industry.

In 2003 Fiona was awarded a Centenary Medal for contribution to the Victorian Justice system.
